24 Feb What Should You Do If Your Dog or Cat Eats a Foreign Body?
It’s called foreign body ingestion, but what it means is, “Did your dog or cat eat a toy or worse?” If your dog or cat has ingested something they shouldn’t have, you should immediately call your vet or a 24 hour emergency animal hospital like Mountainside. Within 2 hours, it may require something more invasive to remove the foreign object.
Some foreign objects can have painful or fatal consequences if not treated in a timely manner. Sometimes, we just need to induce vomiting, but there are also times when surgery is required to remove the object from your fur family member’s intestines.
Again, do not hesitate to call or visit your vet or emergency animal hospital if your pet has eaten your shoe, elastics, toys or anything else they shouldn’t have.
