Veterinary Assistant

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Vancouver?
I am from South Korea and lived in Vancouver for about 9 years.

Why did you choose to become an RVT/VA/CSR?
I love working with animals. Working in vet field is great opportunity to turn passion into career. And get to work with amazing experts (Doctors and Techs) and learn so much from them.

What do you love most about being an RVT/VA/CSR?
The vet industry can be very challenging and requires continuous learning. I love to learn new skills and knowledge and also at the same time, love to teach mine to others. And another great part is we all get to work with amazing team members!

What advice would you give someone entering emergency veterinary medicine as an RVT/VA/CSR? And what skills are most important?
Adapt to fast paced environment but keep accuracy and efficiency at the same time. Minimize mistakes as much as possible.

Tell us about a special animal memory.
When I was young (was living in Korea at that time), I used to bring random stray kittens home when I found one on the street. 🤣 (There are a lot of strays in Korea). Once they were grown, they ran away maybe because they were more likely adapted to live outdoors as well as they were not altered.
