Dr. Allyson Colgan
Dr. Allyson Colgan hails from the bustling metropolis of Oamaru, New Zealand where she practiced as both a small and large animal Veterinarian for several years. She decided to leave the land of the “long white cloud” to come home and follow her passion for emergency medicine. She received her veterinary degree from Massey University, and along with chasing sheep she spent her summers as a penguin research volunteer. This was a humbling experience for Dr. Colgan as she found herself being constantly outrun by an animal with virtually no legs! Prior to braving the wilds of New Zealand, she studied Animal Science at UBC and obtained a Veterinarian Technician qualification at Douglas College. Her special interests include emergency medicine, surgery, and critical care.
When she isn’t at Mountainside Animal Hospital, she can most likely be found on the ski hill, a hiking trail, or planning her next adventure. Seen here with her beloved Australian Shephard Tilly, who has since passed away, Dr. Colgan has once again opened her heart and has a rescue dog named Chief. She also has a kiwi-born cat named Bobby Bouchée. She is so excited to be back in Canada and thrilled to be based in North Vancouver.
