Amy Charalambopoulos

Head Veterinary Technician

Amy has been in the veterinary field for 29 years, 24 of which have been as a certified Veterinary Technician. A “city slicker” to the core, Amy nonetheless graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Fairview College in Northern Alberta, where she learned to two-step almost as well as she learned to administer anaesthetic. After a few years in the field she applied to and was accepted into the prestigious Emergency & Surgery Internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City where she reclaimed her big city swagger. Amy has enjoyed a diverse range of veterinary technician experiences, including provincial post mortem laboratory experience, mixed and small animal practices, forensic testing racehorses, emergency and critical care facilities and teaching future veterinary technician and veterinary assistant students. She has traveled the world to work in Northern Thailand on an elephant sanctuary and to the coast of Miramar to voluntarily help spay and neuter stray dogs and cats. Along with her husband she ran a farm where they bred Oldenbergs and ran a dog training and sheep herding facility. When not at work or traveling, Amy can be found with her camera on a photo assignment, as she is also a published photographer. She now divides her time between her zoo of bunnies, cats and her dogs Tom, Cole and Rosie as well as her horses, Oxy, Arrow and Waltz.
