National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day

Today is National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day! Here are a few tips to help you and your pet during a crisis:

– Have fresh water and food on-hand to last for a few days
– Have a secure carrier, labelled with towels or blankets inside
– Make sure your pet has contact info on an i.d. tag and/or microchip. Also good to have recent photos of your pet in case of separation or escape
– Be aware of where the closest Emergency hospital or veterinarian is located. ER hospitals/veterinarians are considered essential services
– And finally, have a first aid kit with you in the event you cannot reach a veterinarian immediately. (Click here for a suggested first aid kit)
