Veterinarians on duty available 365 days.

Mountainside Animal Hospital is a state-of-the-art animal hospital open 24/7, 365 days of the year. We have a full complement of Veterinarians, Registered Veterinary Technicians, and Veterinary Assistants day or night, all year-round. The staff at Mountainside 24 Hr Emergency Services will triage, diagnose, and treat any medical emergencies and most surgeries, dentals and other procedures.

Fast and Easy access from Burnaby city

We are located directly off of Exit 14 from Hwy 1– a short and direct route from Burnaby that can save time and hassle from downtown traffic and we have plenty of free parking in our underground parking lot next to the elevator where patients who cannot walk can be transported or placed on a stretcher.

Upon arrival, you and your pet will be greeted by our warm and efficient receptionists and will be triaged if necessary for severity of illness or injury. The veterinarian and support staff will assess and examine your pet, take a history, and treat immediately if required. Once your pet is stabilized the veterinarian will go over a treatment plan and estimate of cost for any recommended diagnostics and treatment. Most cases are managed and treated on-site without the need for transfer or referral to another facility.

We have full surgical suites, a dental suite with a digital dental x-ray machine, an endoscope room, separate Intensive Care Units for cats and dogs, and isolation room, a euthanasia room and much more. We also offer digital x-rays and ultrasound, including cardiac ultrasounds.

We love your animal family like they are our own and believe that “compassion first” is the motto we practice.

I was so impressed by the service I received at Mountainside, they made one of the most difficult moments as comfortable as possible. When I arrived at 4am with my dog (Rocky) we were attended to promptly and with great concern. I unfortunately had to say goodbye that morning, but I at least felt like everyone who was helping Rocky truly cared for him and loved animals. Everyone was so compassionate and made me feel less alone. On top of that, a few days after I received a card in the mail from the staff offering their condolences. It was filled with kind, sincerely written messages and it really warmed my heart to receive. Rocky wasn't even a regular patient there - I had never taken him before that morning, and we were only there for an hour or so. They went above and beyond and I can't thank them enough for caring about my dog and I during his last moments as much as they did. I will definitely be bringing all of my pets here for their Vet needs from now on.

We brought our puppy from Burnaby city in in the early morning hours after she was extremely sick and got prompt, attentive, and friendly service by all of the staff. Thank you very much for saving our puppy, we are forever grateful to this amazing and beautiful hospital. A lot of reviews discuss the high costs, however I understand the cost of running such a facility would be really high, and the costs were justified, especially for middle of the night service. Pet insurance always helps as well.

Highly Recommend Dr Homer and his team. We had to go there for an emergency spleen surgery! Awesome service, easy access from Burnaby for round the clock care and attention to detail. We go there again but hopefully not for an emergency this time.

Thank you to everyone here for helping us track down our rescue that got a little too excited and jumped our fence in search of some fun. Shout out to Janice (I hope I spelled it correctly) for taking the time to contact the DNV in order for them to get in contact with me. Much love!

My daughter's 1 1/2 year old Ragdoll ingested string which we discovered on a Saturday night. Even though he had vomited some out and pooped out more, he was not acting normal. I took him in around 10:00 that evening and was so thankful that we did. Turned out that he still had a metre long piece wrapped up in his stomach and intestine and he required emergency surgery. Our Burnaby vet is closed on Sundays and the damage would have been much more significant, if not deadly, had we waited that long. The surgery went flawlessly and he is once again his happy, floppy self. Yes, Mountainside is expensive but running an emergency clinic IS expensive. I was grateful to have them there on the North Shore when I needed them. I would use them for pet emergencies in the future without any hesitation. Thank you to Mountainside Animal Hospital, your vets and all the staff for taking such great care of "Lightning Bolt"!
